Another Day, Another Bear Altercates
Bears Cornerback Daven Holly was arrested after a shooting incident on the North Side. When I first heard this, my first question was, "Who the hell is Daven Holly?" He apparently played on Special Teams in the last three games of the regular season, and was behind the infamous Chris Thompson on the depth chart. What is it about Bears players lately and guns? I understand the whole "rich men own guns and join gun clubs" bravado that runs rampant up on the North Shore, but still. Shouldn't these guys keep their pistols in their holsters? Whatever. I'm not going to concern myself much with this. But I will say this. He won't get the "good kid in the wrong place at the wrong time" treatment that Tank Johnson got. Holly's a scrub and will be treated like one when he receives his walking papers before mini-camp.
One other item of note from that Sun-Times article:
"With nickel back Jerry Azumah not returning, Holly and Chris Thompson are expected to get a longer look beginning this spring."
For some reason, I was under the impression that Azumah was coming back. I thought that after our introduction to Chris Thompson, and the Bears problems in the return game, it was enough to prompt Angelo to resign Azumah. Silly me. This makes my call for a CB via Free Agency all the more urgent. Get it done, Jerry. Get it done.
